NBHL Women's Roster Reveal: Fairfax Fighting FishChriste Lafoon makes her captaincy debut and is looking to make a splash with the Fairfax Fighting Fish. She is the Architect of this dynamic team, blending together veterans and a little out of town talent to create some Anarchy. Christe will hope that the Tide Turns in her favor and they'll be swimming downstream all season. We saw Cara Burgess Evolve into a top goalie last season with a dominant season for the Woodley Park Pandas, and Christe wanted to run it back. It won't be a Lonely Trip for Cara though, as the Fighting Fish defenders will have opponents saying What's The Use. Emma Crocker is ready to Keep It Real as she makes her return to the Maryland women's division. Kelly Jo Broadhurst and Teal Hinga will be feeling The Connection again, once again on the same team in front of Cara as the Fighting Fish will look to mirror the defensive success of last season that the Pandas had. They will be joined by Abbey Dufoe and Shannon Davies who will be providing Crowd Control in front of the net. Brittany Romanelli will make sure that Nothing gets by.Women's Masters Gold Medalist and MVP Lindsey Machak will be carrying Heavy Things for the offense, but she will not be an Army Of One for the Fighting Fish. Melissa Karp will be Fast Enough For You, looking to build off her four goal campaign last season. The speed will also be brought by Devon Strachan, who'll Run Like An Antelope on every play. Carolyn Herzog will be looking to Spread It 'Round, facilitating the offense as one of the most hyped players in the division. Alyssa Stubs Mills will Passing Through opposing defenses and generating lots of offense. Katie Bay will be A Wave Of Hope for the Fish, as her clutch playoff performance came up big last season for the Pandas. Jennifer Bognar is ready for Party Time in front of the net, and Emma Peters will be looking to shine Play By Play. The Fairfax Fighting Fish look to win the Maryland division and then the NBHL Championships. Will All Of These Dreams become a reality, or will they be Swept Away by the competition. Will they be Setting Sail to victory, or will it be a Lonely Trip back Home after defeat? Will the legend of the Fighting Fish be told Twenty Years Later, or will it be Only A Dream? ... See MoreSee Less

NBHL Women's Roster Reveal: Maryland VibesEmily Yox makes her triumphant return to captaincy after leading the DC Darts to the NBHL Championships two seasons ago. This Killer Queen is Calling All Girls to build another winner, and she'll be doing so with a mix of new players to go along with the Dear Friends that she made on the DC Divas and DC Darts. She'll hope to avoid the Sirens song and Escape from the Swamp to get through the division and return to the Championships. The Vibes come in looking to build their team around The Hero of so many Team USA games, Colleen Murphy. Yox hopes that she'll Hang On In There with a well crafted defense in front of her. The defensive core was built around former Cool Cat Aubree Moore, who played out of this world for the Astrocats last year. She'll be in Good Company with Jess Kebea helping to run the show. Meg Fontaine will be there to help Put Out The Fire in tough defensive situations, and Emily Drew and Mandy Bromilow are going to Rock It in this defensive scheme. While most teams would be happy with a solid defensive core, Emily very quickly said that I Want It All, putting together a collection of forwards looking to create A Kind of Magic in the offensive zone. Putting together her royal court of offense, the Yas Queen didn't want a Lost Opportunity and had to sign Princess Clemente. Emily Webber is hoping to Tear It Up again, looking to replicate her league leading 6 goals and 9 points under the DC Darts offense. There will be some Bohemian RAPPsody as Alison looks to be a difference maker. The team is going to rely on a Flick Of The Wrist from center Hannah Wizbicki to make some goals happen, and Bageshri Ghate will be Doing All Right after a break from the NBHL. The Vibes will look for some big plays from Stanley Cupcake and Sweet Lady Lisa D'aromando, who found herself on the highlight reel after her overtime breakaway goal in week one last year. Georgie Carter will be looking to Breakthru offensively this season, consistently in the top goal scorers but poised for a statistically dominant year. It's A Beautiful Day for the Vibes with Jaime Jacobson and Mara Duquette at wing, adding both speed and goal scoring to the lineup. The Maryland Vibes are Coming Soon to the NBHL Women's division with high hopes and a great roster. Will they pull off The Miracle of winning the league and Forever be champions, or will they Misfire and be The Loser In The End? Will they get Blurred Vision while being Under Pressure, or will their Body Language be that of champions? Will it be Death On Two Legs, or will Emily say "Gimme The Prize" when it's all said and done? ... See MoreSee Less

NBHL Women's Roster Reveal: Potomac Swamp CreaturesThe Potomac Swamp Creatures find themselves in the Minority of NBHL teams. Elisa Prange will be returning to captain the team. Here Comes the Shock: the team will be the first ever in the division to have co-captains, as Elisabeth Blotvogel will be making her debut as well. The Sweet 16 on the roster are a great mix of veteran players and rookies looking to make something happen. The team is going to look to avoid a Fire, Ready, Aim approach and rely on a more precise offense. Despite missing last season due to injury, Melissa Clark knows that When I Come Around, opposing goalies are in trouble.,The team is looking to Stay Young with Aidan, and are hoping to get 99 Revolutions on the shot from Riley Siddorn. It'll be Lights Out for opposing defenses as Julia Bell looks to continue scoring big goals. Maddie Vale-Ghering will be a Troublemaker with her aggressive forecheck, hoping to create some Bang Bang plays with Megan Mauer and Madeline Montague. Tori Bischak will be Having a Blast in her first NBHL season, looking to be a key part of the offense. The Swamp Creatures have built their defense around goaltender Sam Perrotta, new to the Maryland division but an Extraordinary Girl who will be playing in both this division and in NJ/PHI. Scoring on this team will be like Pulling Teeth, with veterans Janaye Dzikewich and Sharon Ossi leading the defense. When It's Time for big turnovers they will look to Sarah McReynolds to make something happen. Michele Fensken will be looking to Take Back the ball, and Stephanie Daniels is going to bring Misery to opposing wingers in front of the net.The Potomac Swamp Creatures bring a scary lineup to the division, but No One Knows how it'll play out. They might be the Best Thing In Town, or might find themselves Jinxed. Will it be Too Much Too Soon for this team, or will this Underdog go all the way? Will Elisabeth be a Basket Case if Elisa is a Drama Queen? When the season ends, will the team say Good Riddance, or will it be the best Time of Your Life? ... See MoreSee Less

NBHL Women's Team Reveal: Silver Spring SirensDCHL veteran Megan Noyes makes her captain debut for the Silver Spring Sirens, looking to avoid a Cruel Summer and win the division in August. She'll be trying to create The Last Great American Dynasty with this loaded roster.Right out of the gate, Megan said "Everything has Changed", as her roster has no players from last season's Woodley Park Pandas. Locking up goaltending with Nicole Vaquerano, her team will look to take away any Blank Space in the defensive zone . She's hoping that Honey Kilburg will be Sweeter Than Fiction while creating some Bad Blood with Potomac captain Elisa Prange by drafting her sister Sharon. She locked up co-worker, teammate, and player she knows All Too Well, Edie Schutz, to carry on the momentum from last year's Champions Annapolis Ambush. Megan will spend the first few weeks saying I Want You Back to defender Kim Burgess, who will be set to return later in the season. While defense wins games, her offense will be looking to make some big plays. She quickly signed former Mass player Olivia Gajor, hoping that her shot Hits Different. She'll be looking for the Electric Touch of Amy Breidenstein to facilitate wingers Rachael Israel, Miriam Frost, and Lisa Burch, as opposing defenses will suffer Death by a Thousand Cuts. Megan won't be a Mad Woman as she'll get solid play from Nicole Chaung and Jenna Curley. The Sirens will also be adding rookies Jessica Rich and Melissa Barall, looking for an early spark but also reassuring them that Soon You'll Get Better. The Silver Spring Sirens come into the season hoping to make waves and The Best Day for them will be winning the division. Will Megan say It's Time To Go to the NBHL Championships, or will this be The Last Time she's a captain? Will they fulfill their Wildest Dreams at the top of the division, or will people look back at the Sirens and say I Forgot You Existed? If you want to find out How Did It End, don't change that channel. ... See MoreSee Less

Pucky Brewster here with last week’s recap. COUNT PUCKULA vs. MOCO MAD DOGSThe Mad Dogs drained Puckula’s blood faster than a vampire on payday. Offensive newcomer Shaun “Rennegade” Renn scored the first hat trick of his career, and Lexicon Jones manned the pipes, racking up saves and an assist. The game stayed tense until the second period, when the Dog Pack exploded like a bag of microwave popcorn someone forgot about, leaving a burnt taste in Puckula’s mouth.Dogs 7 – Puckula 3________________________________________INVASIAN vs. BELTWAY BORDERSThe Invasion looked poised to breach the Borders with a 4-2 lead going into the third, but Jordan “Kunz” Kunzler and Nick “Poc” Pocynek evened the score, thwarting the offensive push. Dustin “The Body” Hui had a two-goal performance, but his squad couldn’t capitalize when a blind squirrel found a nut.Invasion 4 – Borders 4________________________________________STINGRAYS vs. UNTOUCHABLESA back-and-forth thriller ended in a tie. Standouts included Joe “The Stadium” Shea and Just-in “Yourgoalros” Yarros, each racking up 3 points for the Untouchables. For the Rays, Lew “The Flop” Fontek, Devin “Poison” Lilly, and Michael “The Blizzard” Thomas each had 2 points. Needless to say, Lew has a habit of touching what’s supposed to be untouchable.Tie 3-3ALL BLACKS vs. BLUE DRAGONSThe All Blacks scored early and extinguished the Dragons’ fire before it even got warm. Mike “Biggie” Johnson rained down three killer shots, Aiden “Forever” Young had two points, and Kosal “Notgonnakeepmefromscoring” Nguon capped off his performance with a three-point flourish. The Dragons came out Blue, but by the final whistle, they were nothing more than a black-and-blue bruise.Final: 7 – 0 FLAMINGOALS vs. I.P.AAaron “Brut” Broun and Sam “On the Brink” Brinker racked up points like slot machines on jackpot mode, leaving the Flamingoals dazed and confused. It was an uncharacteristically quiet night for the squad, but all eyes are on Alex “The Shot” Schutz—hopefully he can wake the rest of the flock and get those points rolling next week.Final: 1 – 7BIG STICK vs. FUNKMASTERSThe Funkmasters laid down the FUNK, scoring six goals and reducing the Diplomacy’s Big Stick to a mere toothpick. It was an all-around team effort for the Funk, capped by Tom “Lincoln” Abraham holding the crease like a one-man wall. The Diplomacy will be hoping to regain their stick’s girth next week… and maybe their dignity.Final: 1 – 6FUNKMASTERS vs. THE 11The Funkmasters Redux jumped out early, but the Oshies 11 spent the night saying “cute goal, our turn.” Brian “Double B” Bowen scored twice, Joe “the Stadium” Shea piled up points like Costco samples, and every time the Funkmasters tied it, the Oshies immediately undid it.Third period drama? Absolutely. Simon “the Connoisseur” Kanter made it interesting late, but the Oshies shut the door, locked it, and lost the key.Final score: Oshies 11 win 4–3, proving once again that road teams and momentum are both incredibly rude. ...
