Here's to the ChampionsIn our REC division, the DCHLadies jumped out to a 3-1 lead with two goals by Patrick Coghlan and another from Shai Kornblau. The Puck Dragons would dig deep, getting a second goal from Derek O'Halloran, cutting into the lead. Jason Sauler would tie the game up late, forcing us into overtime. A faceoff win and shot from the point would be turned aside, but once again Jason Sauler would pick up the rebound and find the back of the net, giving the Puck Dragons the championship. Jason Sauler's two clutch goals would give him the MVP belt.Our D3 division would turn out to be one of the craziest games in DCHL playoff history. Jason Sauler came out firing, scoring for Stick-Phil-A and giving them an early lead. A Kevin Miller penalty put the Gwendolyn Blue Knights on the penalty kill, which would result in a Matt Kelly shorthanded goal. The Knights would add goals from Nick Wirdzek and Kevin Miller to build up a 3-1 lead. Another Knights penalty enabled another Matt Kelly shorthanded goal. Stick-Phil-A, trying to mount a comeback, would take a penalty, setting up a Jason Sauler shorthanded goal to make it 4-2. The Blue Knights would find themselves shorthanded against the extra attacker, with a Kevin Miller goal giving Gwendolyn the 5-2 win and us a game with four shorthanded goals. Matt Kelly's two would give him the MVP.In D2, The Gwendolyn Blue Dragons would start off the game with a goal by Tricia Tyler and wouldn't look back. Get would get goals from Sam Brinker, Nick Wirdzek, and Kevin Lee in a 4-0 win over The All Blacks. Defensive standout Chris Brunetti would take home the MVP with his defense that stifled the high powered TAB offense.Our D1 final saw Funkmasters battling Oshies 11 in a rematch of last season's final. Oshies would get on the board first with a Joe Shea out of the air deflection that found the back of the net. Funk would not take long to respond, as Megan Noyes would find Simon Kanter in the slot for the game tying goal. Brian Bowen would respond for Oshies, giving them a 2-1 lead, and a point shot from Brennan Guiffre would give Oshies a 3-1 lead and the championship. Jason Stelter would take home the championship belt and MVP honors with another amazing game in net. ... See MoreSee Less
