Equipment Guide
We want to make getting on the floor as easy as possible! Here is what you’ll need:
-
Sticks: We provide loaner sticks to get you started. If you’re looking to buy, a one-piece stick in the $25–$50 range from Total Hockey is perfect for our league.
-
Helmets (Required): A hockey helmet with a cage is mandatory during live play.
-
Pro-Tip: You can find great deals on lightly used helmets at Replay Sports (right around the corner from the Sportsplex off Gude). They are open until 5:00 PM most days—tell them the league sent you!
-
New helmets are also available at Total Hockey or online. We do have a few extras to borrow if you’re in a pinch.
-
-
Shin Guards (Highly Recommended): We recommend soccer-style guards or street-hockey-specific ones (like the Mylec MK3 or MK5), which also provide knee protection.
-
Sizing Tip: Measure in inches from the top of the foot to the top of the knee.
-
-
Gloves (Recommended): While optional for younger players, gloves become more important for protection as the kids age up.
-
Goalie Gear: We have a full stock of youth street hockey goalie equipment in all sizes for anyone who wants to give the net a try!
-
Note: If your child plans to play goalie regularly, we strongly recommend bringing an athletic cup for protection.
