DCHL Playoff Updates:Ezra Berger starts off scoring for the Rickety Crickets, but the Slashing Pumpkins respond with goals from Jenny Olkewicz, Kirsten Kumpf, and John Bereza in a 3-1 win. #girlpowerMatt Kowalski goes off for a goal and two assists and Joe Shea adds a pair in the Untouchables 4-2 win over IPA #killerkowalskiThe Stingrays get goals from Christe Lafoon, Scott Fairchild, and an empty netter from Chris Thorp in their 3-0 win over the #flaminogoalsIn Non-Playoff Action:Oshies 11 get goals from Hunter Haddad, Brian Bowen, Michael Farace, and Rachel Israel in a 4-2 win over BSD in a sub filled game. #suboptimalLetterkenny Irish get goals from Jack Evans, Josh Miller, Nathan Maya, and another from Josh Miller to get a 4-0 lead. In our Thursday Pro championship game, The Ones found their rhythm early in the first period and took a commanding 4-0 led by Zach Buswell and Andrew Marshall. This lead certainly wouldn't last, as Blues Clues would score three unanswered in two shifts to make it a 4-3 game.Hunter Haddad would step up for The Ones, regaining their momentum with an unbelievable goal out of the air to make it 5-3. A couple of garbage goals late would make it a 8-3 final, giving The Ones the last championship before teams are redrafted.MVP went to Andrew Marshall with a hat trick (even if one was an empty netter) to conclude the most competitive Thursday season we have had to date. ... Champions have been crowned!Our REC division final between the Gwendolyn Black Knights and the Brewhawks started out quickly with a Nick Franson wraparound goal to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Jerry Kelley would strike back for the Brewhawks, making it a 1-1 game. We had some amazing passing by the Black Knights, who were able to find Mandy Bromilow in front of the net for a beautiful goal to make it 2-1. Rookie CJ Cope is able to seal the deal with an empty netter in the final minute, giving the Gwendolyn Black Knights the championship. Mandy takes home MVP honors for her game winning goal.Our D2 final gave us a rematch from last season's final between the Hellbenders and the Titans. Hellbenders would get on the board first by a great defensive play by Geoff Sockol, who found himself off to the races with a breakaway he was able to cash in on. They would follow it up with another goal as Justin Yarros taps in a rebound from Madison Lau. Goalie tom Abraham would hold down the fort as the Hellbenders get a 2-0 win and their first championship. Geoff's game winning goal and playmaking throughout the game give him the D2 MVP. ... Wednesday finals happen tonight!The Brewhawks face off against the Gwendolyn Black Knights for the REC championship at 7:30, and at 8:20, we'll see the Hellbenders and Titans in a rematch of last season's final in D2.After that, we have pickup from 9:15-11pm, along with a ref training from 9:15-10pm.We're taking signups for next season, which will start on April 24th.
